I haven’t written a blog post for a while because I have been going through another one of those spells where I haven’t been inspired to write. I don’t feel there’s any point in writing for the sake of it because no one would want to read it and then when I do have a profound moment it would be wasted as you would all just see me promoting yet another post and ignore it. Now, I’m not claiming that what is about to follow is particularly profound, just quite nice for me to write to let people know what I’ve been up to.
Over the last few months I’ve been busy being a Mum and watching my little boy grow into an amazing person. Just yesterday I was astounded at his confidence in the swimming pool and his upper-body strength. I’ve also been kept on my toes with my husband and my business, 2nd Floor, managing it day to day, trying to predict the future and put some strategies to develop it in place. Last week we also rearranged the office to make a lovely, welcoming meeting area (using my woman’s touch!). Our side project, MeanThemes, has taken up some of my attention too, speccing new themes and deciding on a release schedule. MeanThemes has brought us some fantastic attention from quite big names in the business and journalism worlds, just yesterday our Literary theme was mentioned on Andy Inhatko’s blog. He’s a Technology Journalist for the Chicago Sun-Times and even Stephen Fry follows him on Twitter, so it is quite an honour!
On top of all that I’ve been trying to do a bit of exercise, while not pushing myself too much. I’ve also had to try very hard not to Google Sjögren’s Syndrome too often, after I was diagnosed with it alongside Lupus but as I haven’t had a chance to speak to the consultant yet the impulse to search has been strong!
All that aside, over the last week the writing bug has hit me again and this time I have turned to paper and pencil. I’m not sure what I’m writing yet, a short story, a book, perhaps even a film! Whatever it turns in to, even if it’s nothing, I’m enjoying it and wish I had a bit more time!
